It happened again. I lost my motivation.

I recently moved to Canada, and a lot of change was happening in my life as I adjusted to this new country. I dived into the unknown: no friends, no work, new city.

So for the first few weeks, there was a lot to balance; and amongst all of that, I attempted to kick-start a routine to live by.

But when you make a change in your life or start something new, the path is rocky at first — you need time to find your rhythm.

Undoubtedly, you’ve been in the position before where you’ve picked up a new hobby. Still, you never rearrange your schedule to fit it in — never finding the time to practise your hobby — or you put too much pressure on yourself, and, when you do trip up, you decide to stay on the ground, your flag of surrender waving high above your head.

We lose our motivation for various reasons, but we can always regain it if we persevere; we need to remember and consider a few things when we find our motivation slipping through our fingers.

There’s a reason you started in the first place.

Whether you’re making change, starting something new, or simply trying to push yourself: remember why you started.

As I look at the changes I am making, waking up early, dedicating time to learning and writing, and advancing my fitness; I look to my reasoning behind each.

Why do I want to wake up early? Because I enjoy an early start to the day, waking up and cracking on with projects whilst the world sleeps, and freeing up my time in the evening to wind down and relax.

Why do I want to dedicate time to learning and writing? Because I want to work for myself, enhance my skills and earn an income from online sources.
I also love learning new things and the freedom of expression writing provides.

Why do I want to advance my fitness? Because though I am relatively healthy and keep fit, I would like to see changes in my body…
