Why So Anxious To Make The Rich Richer?

Protests are breaking out against quarantine but why?

Facebook giveth and Facebook taketh away. One of the first memes that hit the social media giant during the coronavirus pandemic was supportive of the stay at home orders many states were putting in place. In the meme, it showed a man laying on the couch and said my country needs me to stay home. It was widely shared and many seemed happy to take some time off from the rat race.

Fast forward a few weeks and the tides would seem to be turning. Some have started complaining that they want to go back to work. What? While some of the points make sense, the overall feeling is way off. It makes no sense when some other factors are considered.

Like healthcare workers are all begging people to stay home. While it seems as though many states have reached their peak in terms of the coronavirus pandemic, there are still hot spots that need to be looked at.

Certainly, there are some people worried about feeding their families and keeping a roof over their heads. However, the federal government has relaxed guidelines for getting unemployment and most states have followed suit. Many areas have also put a halt to evictions. In the hopes of making residents feel safe during this time.

Many of the people calling for the economy to be reopened are those that don’t do the work themselves. It is the millionaires and billionaires who are losing money every moment that businesses stay closed. They are willing to risk the lives of their employees because they are replaceable. But the profits that are being missed out on will not be as easily replaced.

Also not easily replaced are the votes Donald Trump was counting on to help get him reelected. He built his whole campaign around the fact that the economy was strong, albeit just for the wealthy, and was going to use it to win a second term. The coronavirus has put that in jeopardy and placed the U.S. in the much speculated about recession. Yes, the same one that Trump denied and said was not going to happen.

If he had handled the pandemic correctly, he might have been able to rely on strong approval ratings.
