5 Things mentally strong people do!

Being an emotionally or mentally strong person is not an easy task, and I am still in the process. But it always helps to know what we can do in order to get through situations. And I came across a few and thought I should share them with you.

They do not focus on the past or what they were.

A lot of times we are unable to accept changes because we have a fixed mindset about what we are and how things used to be. New things are unacceptable because we think I never did that, how am I supposed to do that today. And this is the biggest barrier we face when we need to grow. Change is inevitable so we need to be flexible enough to focus on what is there right in front now.

They let go of things they cannot control.

Controlling something is a probability and we want to make it our decision. It is uncertain and yet we want to make it certain. Letting go is the only way one can truly move on in life, but our urge to control it all never lets us move on from a situation or person. We believe so much into the belief that we can control everything, that we hold on to it. And then there comes a time when we are tired and we give up, but still, we never let go of the belief that we can control it all. And the next time, we repeat the same.

They do not expect.

From anything or anyone. They know the expectation is the key to disappointment. Expectations usually show us a world where everything is possible and everything happens according to us. It’s a world wherein we are the king and we rule how things should be in our world, but in reality, there exists another world too, a world that belongs to another person. When we expect we usually become selfish and want everything that makes us feel good and then there are disappointments because it is the nature of expectation to turn into disappointment.

They take risks.

They aren’t afraid of failing and that is the reason they are mentally strong. When you constantly think of losing, you will never start. And that is what happens the majority of the times with us, we are so afraid to lose, we never even try. Strong people think of making things work and they do not stop until they make it happen, so technically they never fail.

They remind themselves they are strong.

Everybody is scared of something and the more you feed the fear, the more it grows. Strong people were weak once, but the only thing that keeps them strong is reminding themselves that they are strong. Weakness is a weakness only when you accept it. Reminding yourself of being strong, actually makes us strong.
