Minimalism Project

This project was surprisingly eye-opening. It’s amazing how beautiful a picture can be even when it is so simple. Some pictures are often loud with bright colors and chaotic backgrounds. But it’s amazing how even empty space and an object can make an amazing picture. Taking minimalism pictures is sometimes harder than just taking a picture you think looks cool. You have to find a quiet background and an object and figure out the best way to enhance the image. You have to be creative and really look around. It’s hard to take pictures at the high school because it seems like at this point we have taken a picture of almost everything. But that is what is cool about the new

seasons. The flowers give us opportunities to take new images. I am very proud of how the picture of the bee turned out. It was extremely difficult to find Jefferey (the bee, that’s what Natalie and I named him.) I especially love how the background of the picture turned out. I enjoy the mellowness of the

yellow flowers, but I could brighten and bring them out as well. I took this outside of South Hall with Natalie and chased Jefferey for what seemed like an hour before I finally got the picture. My second picture was of Natalie’s hand on the tennis courts. The tennis courts are a surprisingly great place to take photos. I think it turned out decent, but I would have liked the white line to be straighter. The deep shades of the blue and the contrasting white make the image look cool. I also wished I would have zoomed out. I wish on the plant picture I would have gone for a different angle. I should have gone for a more level look with the plants instead of right on top of it. I should have all around just brightened the plants and added exposure. The plants were also found on the tennis courts. And finally, this is my flower picture. It may not exactly be minimalistic but I still enjoy it. The pink on the flower should have been brought out more, but I think the background on it looks really good. Overall, taking minimalist photos is harder than I thought. You have to be creative in a different way. Less is more in these photos. While it may take more time to find the perfect shot it’s definitely worth it. Minimalist is so different. It reminds that even the simplest things can be deemed beautiful if we just look for it.
