Top 5 Places to Take Your Dog at FSU

Many know Heritage Grove as rows of fraternity houses and a place to tailgate on game days. But that is not all it is good for, if you happen to be one of the lucky FSU students with a dog this is a great place to take your furry companion. Heritage Grove sits on thirty-seven acres of land making Its size alone a great place to take your dog for a walk or even a run any day of the week. The empty fields between Pi Kappa Alpha and Phi Delta Theta also provide a great place to play fetch or frisbee, allowing you and your dog to have all the exercise you need. Does your pup need friends? This is a very popular place for students to bring their pets so your Monday morning may turn into a social gathering amongst pets.

Although this is located a little bit off campus, it is very popular amongst families and college students alike for its vast and beautiful landscape. This also makes it a great place to bring your four-legged friend on any day of the week. Sundays are especially fun, however, because there are vendors selling a variety of items including food. So your pup can get all the exercise their heart desires while you can enjoy some of the amazing food. Some of the restaurants featured around the part serve outdoors brunch so you and your pup can attend tally brunch. The sheer size of the park makes it one of the largest areas you can take your pets, promising to exercise even the most hyper of dogs, they may even meet a dog friend along the way.

Everyone’s favorite part of the fall here at Florida State is definitely tailgating, but it could also be your furry friends favorite part if you bring them along. While I do strongly suggest leaving your dog at home for the first few games because the heat can be too much for a dog for that amount of time, once it gets cooler dress them up and head over to Doak! The tailgating around the stadium is more family and pup friendly so you can enjoy tailgating while your dog sits back and relaxes outside. Almost every dog thrives off human interaction so simply leashing them up and bringing them could be the highlight of their week (just don’t forget the doggy bags). Want to increase the fun? Invite your friends to bring their dogs and enjoys your time with good times, good dogs and of course the noles.

As students at Florida State we are always busy so squeezing in that extra one-on-one time with your dog may be harder than you think. So why not take them for a serene walk right on campus. You probably walk on Legacy Walk every day to class, so why not spend a few extra minutes and take your dog with you. Legacy walk is a frequent stop for FSU dogs because of its convince but also because of its sheer size, a few minutes out of your day could give your dog a substantial amount of exercise. Not only will your dog thank you for taking them with you, but you can also enjoy FSU’s campus and all its beauty when you are not in a rush on your way to class. Pro tip: take your dog when the weather starts to get cold in November, your dog won’t be so hot and most likely enjoy the crisp air as much as you do!

Last but not least is Landis Green, it is probably the most well known dog-friendly area at FSU and is usually filled with dogs on any given day. There is a reason it is so popular though, its perfect central location on campus makes it the perfect hang out spot for students and their furry friends. Last spring Landis even hosted a ‘Puppies on Landis’ event which brought out a big crowd. The event hosted FSU students from their pups from all over in the hopes of securing Landis green as an established dog party area. If your dog is looking for some new dog friends or just wants to extra attention from some passing students passing by; Landis is the place to be.
