Charges Dropped Against Jussie Smollett

“Empire” star Jussie Smollett has been acquitted of 16 felony counts in the fake hate crime case.

Despite the fact police investigators have plenty of evidence to convict Smollett, prosecutors decided to drop all of the charges against him. Ironically, Chicago’s mayor, police superintendent, and lead prosecutor believe Smollett staged the attack on himself and he is guilty.

Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson believes Smollett’s legal team spent a large amount of money on his case and brokered a secret deal.

Bestselling author and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza went to Twitter to express his sarastic thoughts on Smollett.

Chicago’s lead prosecutor , Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx, recused herself from the investigation before Smollett was charged and now she is receiving backlash for dropping the charges. American Talks Live host John Cardillo took to Twitter to express his thoughts behind the controversey around Foxx.

On the other hand, while Smollett’s lawyers are demanding an apology from Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Superintendent Johnson, the city of Chicago is demanding $130,000 from Smollett, for the overtime required to investigate the staged attack.

Smollett has been released since his arrest on a $100,000 bond and he will return to court for a hearing in April.
